Eldar Corsairs

by Michael Powers

(Just a few ideas, nothing either balanced or playtested)

ELDAR CORSAIRS

The Eldar often fielded a slightly larger version of their frigates; this class became known as the 'corsair'. It generally acted as a leader for squadrons of destroyers, much as their cruisers acted as the centerpieces of frigate flotilla.

Highwayman Corsair

145 pts

This class provided destroyers with carrier support. It generally stood off at a distance from an engagement, preferring to send attack craft to do its work.

Type/Hits Speed Turns Shields Armour Turrets
Cruiser/4 10/20/30 special holofields 4+ 0
Armament: Range/Speed Firepower/Strength Fire Arc
Keel Launch Bay Darkstar 30cm
Eagle 20cm
3 squadrons -
Prow Weapons Battery 30cm 2 Front

Cutthroat

140 pts

This class again provided ranged support; however, it did so with weaponry that was (for Eldar) unusually long-ranged.

Type/Hits Speed Turns Shields Armour Turrets
Cruiser/4 10/20/30 special holofields 4+ 0
Armament: Range/Speed Firepower/Strength Fire Arc
Prow Pulsar Lances 45cm 2 Front

Desperado

120 pts

This class of ship, contrasted to the other two, generally spent its time in the thick of the action, wielding its torpedoes and weapons batteries to good effect.

Type/Hits Speed Turns Shields Armour Turrets
Cruiser/4 10/20/30 special holofields 4+ 0
Armament: Range/Speed Firepower/Strength Fire Arc
Keel Torpedoes 30cm 3 Front
Prow Weapons Battery 30cm 4 Front

(These look somewhat like the Hellebore, except with a bigger aft section. The Highwayman replaces the Pulsar Lance part with a launch bay; the Cutthroat just has a slightly beefier version of the part; and the Desperado has a part with torpedo-tube bulges on the front, and the forward glacis has lots of small turrets instead of the Hellebore's one big turret.)
