Dark Eldar Ships

The following is presented for consideration. Feel free to comment, critique, etc. I used the previously posted calculations to work up point costs--with some minor variation for some additional elements.

Out of the Krieg Nebula came a new threat. For all intents they looked and acted like Eldar-but their ships were of new configurations. While slightly easier to detect, they had better range and speed than previously encountered Eldar. They refused all attempts at communication and attacked without provocation. Had not our reinforcements arrived when they did, this report would never have reached Your Eminence. While most Eldar boast holofields which render them difficult to hit, these ships were easier to detect. However, they appeared to be totally unaffected by dust clouds and drove through explosions with impunity. Their ships, while more durable than their counterparts in the Gothic sector, did not appear to be as heavily armoured.

Due to the dark, brooding color schemes on their ships, the crew came to describe them as the "Dark Eldar". To this day, their motives, purpose and, indeed, their location remain a mystery. It is my suspicion that much of the piracy reported as "Eldar Corsairs" may, in fact, be correctly attributed to these newly encountered vessels.

General Notes:

Holofields: These Eldar have overpowered their holofields producing an effect that allows them to pass through blast markers and gas/dust clouds as if shielded. However, this additional power serves to make them more detectable--Holofield save for these ships is 3+ (instead of 2+). Since this is an effect of the Holofield generator, a critical hit that damages the generator negates this effect until repaired.

Critical Hits: Reinforcement of the wraithbone construction of the ship has served to stengthen overall hull integrity-providing the benefit of a critical hit sustained only on the roll of 5+.

 

Design Notes:

Extra Speed: You will note that the speed of these ships is better--but also that the capital ships suffer severely reduced hit points. It is a tradeoff. Live with it.

Increased Range: The additional range you will note for the weapons batteries and the lances are a +20 point addition per weapon type.

Ventral Pulsar Lance: This addition is a +10 point addition per fire arc, per weapon modification.

"Armour": While I am American and find the use of the additional "u" ungainly in the word, I present this out of respect to Games Workshop and Andy Chambers for the best tactical game of the century. <Grin>
