Chaos Light Cruiser

by CLL@LGC.CO.UK

Being in the happy position of owning quite alot of plastic Chaos cruisers I've been thinking about carving a few of them up to produce other variants. One of the more obvious ideas is to cut out one of the weapon bays and produce a Chaos Light Cruiser.

With the Gothic War consuming more and more resources and with production and repair facilities on both sides being severely overstretched improvisation was often the only way to keep a vessel spaceworthy.

In a clash over one of the Chaos repair facilities orbiting Khalid, the Slaughter class cruiser Nemesis was cut in half when the Indefatigable, a Lunar Class cruiser suffered a plasma drive overload and blew up. The Nemesis, already crippled from the fight, suffered the brunt of the damage. Most of the crew were killed when the ravening plasma from the Indefatigable scythed through the ship overloading one of it's own reactors. The resulting explosion split the Nemesis in two sending the prow tumbling away. The two halves of the ship were recovered and returned to the facility which stayed in Chaos hands thanks to the efforts of the Nemesis and the other renegade defenders.  With the repair facility itself badly damaged it was months before the damage sustained to the Nemesis could be properly assessed. Almost a quarter of the ship had been vapourised by the plasma, and massive damage had been sustained to the gun decks adjacent to the breach. Half the ship's shield generating capacity was gone. The engines were relatively unscathed, and the prow had suffered fairly minor damage as it was blasted away from the rest of the ship. With the need for ships greater than ever the renegade Tech Adepts decided to rebuild the ship without the missing section, as they no longer had the capabilities to fabricate the required replacement parts.
