Putting to rest some rumours

by Andy Chambers

While I'm writing I should also comment on the discontinuation rumours flying around. As Dan noted i'd already mentioned to him that at present I am aware of no plans to 'discontinue' BFG, but I must sound a note of caution because new games like Mordheim will edge BFG out of the limelight. Of course they will, Mordheim's the new Xmas game and the company is duty bound to push it as hard as possible (its also a very cool game), Warmaster (next springs game, also very cool) likewise. The GW stores in the UK will run down the shelf space of BFG stuff in order stock more Mordheim/Warmaster, White Dwarf will run more Warmaster/Mordheim articles and so on. It is the way of things. This is certainly the case in the UK, as far as I am aware the US and Oz are plenty happy to keep BFG as part of their main range and as I noted previously they function as seperate business and are free to make their own decisions on stock and releases.

Meantime in the UK all of the BFG range will be available through Mail Order, the Black Library are planning to publish a magazine along the lines of Firepower for Epic 40,000 to bring out new material, and I've talked with the management about getting more ships done. At present I've been promised some Necron ships and maybe some Tyranids, I've also been working on a compilation of WD articles and new material (including some stuff from the list!) to come out as a 100+ page book , which will probably be around for the new year. Furthermore Forgeworld, who make resin stuff for GW, have done some models for BFG; specifically Thunderhawk gunships, Eldar fighters and Ork fighta bommas, also in the pipeline for them is a space station and maybe some more planetary defences. The release rate for stuff like this will be slow, but there will be releases.

Hope this goes some way to reassuring everyone.Remember that this is all stuff I've heard around the studio, so don't believe any of it unless you see things in the shops (or on mail order), 'cos you've only got my word on it.
