Because of the combination of Imperial technology from the Dark Age of Technology and Eldar technology, Slayer is the most unstoppable of all weapons.Slayer (Eldar:Lantillifieth) was never known to the Imperial public, or even to the brave Legions of the Loyal Astartes Space Marines, and has been the cause of many rumours; many of which centre on the arrival of Space Marines to worlds supposedly deeply infested by Chaos only to find them desolate and barren of all signs of life except for the ruined hulks of Chaos Titans and often one or more of the great flying fortresses of Chaos, empty of all life. If alters to the gods of Chaos had been built, the body of that gods warriors are piled next to the broken heaps that were the alters. On such worlds often the only thing left standing is a Shrine to the Emperor. Many times even this is not present but instead a large stone cairn containing the body of the last human warrior to fall to the forces of Chaos. On these cairns these words are inscribed:Let us all praise the Emperor in his divine vision and wisdom. Let us devote our hearts, body’s, minds, and very souls to the protection of that he holds dear. Here lies the body of the last human warrior to fall, he had devoted his being to the Emperor, and fell helping me end Chaos on this world. Let him rest in Peace. The first cairn was opened by an over zealous historian to find what it really contained, and Slayer’s suggestion to let the dead Rest in Peace was violated, the suggestion has been heeded by all because years later after the planet was repopulated the cairn was visited by something that none of the people who were later questioned by the Inquisatation, could not describe. All they remembered was a powerful voice, a commanding presence, and the feeling that the thing was so devoted to the Emperor that only death would stop it. Seeing the cairn had been violated it began questioning people in a voice they could not refuse. When it found who had defiled the cairn, it seemed to disappear. A week later the historian who opened the cairn was found floating in space, his heart ripped from his body and his tongue torn from his mouth. This note accompanied: This is the one who defiled the cairn of the last warrior to fall beside me. He was a snivelling worm who did not deserve to exist in the light of the Emperor. Ever since the historians body was found, the warning to never disturb the cairns has become part of Imperial indoctrination. On the other hand the Eldar have known of Slayer ever since one of their Farseers approached the Emperor with the idea to create a weapon so unstoppable that it could fight against an entire Chaos army and still come out the better. The Emperor agreed, and the Farseer provided the Emperor with the plans for the Distort cannon, Dark Reaper Aspect warriors Range Finder, The Death Spinner and the materials to make weapons superior to any the universe had ever seen. Slayer’s Neuro brain was originally created by the Emperor as a precursor to the project which created the Primarch’s. Created as an experiment in the combination of genius DNA and the DNA of fanatics devoted to the Emperor, Slayer had some quirks which were later eliminated from the program, not the least of which was its insane determination to the cause of the Emperor, and its instinct for vengeance against those who defile the shrines of the Devoted.During the eons since its creation Slayer has perfected its shock tactics and weapons. During its seclusion within black hole#44823(The Eye Of The Beholder) in the centre of the galaxy, Slayer learned to manipulate the tides of the Warp to a degree unmastered by anyone save the Emperor himself. During the Chaos invasion of Lamarno, 300000 Chaos Space Marines and and thousands of deamons participated in the slaughter of the defenders and the civilian population. By the time that the Inquisitors and the Grey Knights got to the Lamarno system the only thing they would have been able to do was initiate Exterminatus, but instead of the writhing hell of a deamon world they found the rotting corpses of deamon. |
