The Imperial Guard is a vast fighting formation, and unlike smaller forces such as Space Marines even basic troop movements involve the mobilisation of thousands of men.   In order for these orders to go smoothly the Valhallan Imperial Guard has a substantial command structure.  The first link in this chain of command is a Lieutenant and his Command squad.

Squad: The Command section consists of 1 Lieutenant and 4 Impeial Guardsmen.

Weapons: Lasgun or laspistol and close combat weapon.

Options: Up to two of the Guardsmen may have one of the following each: flamer +3 points; a plasma gun at +8 points; a meltagun at +8 points or a grenade launcher at +8 points.

Two of the Guardsmen may be formed into a weapons team armed with one of the following heavy weapons: heavy bolter at +10; missile launcher at +15 points; lascannon at +20 points; autocannon at +15 points; a mortar at +15 points.   One model may be given a comm-link at +10 pts.

The entire Command Section may be equipped with frag grenades for +5 points.

Characters: One Guardsman may be upgraded to a Veteran Sergeant at an extra cost of +10 pts.  The Lieutenant and the Veteran Sergeant may be given additional equipment from the Armoury.

Medic: One Guardsmen may be upgraded to a medic at an additional cost of +10 points.  The medic is equipped with a medi-pack.

Tech-Priest Engineer: The Command HQ may include 1 Tech-Priest Engineer at an additional cost of +40 points.  He carries a power and a laspistol and can be given any equipment allowed from the Armoury.

Chimera: The squad may include a Chimera for an additional +95 points, for details see the Chimera transport entry at the end of the Troops section.

SPECIAL RULES

Leadership: Any Imperial Guard squad within 12" of a Command Section may use the Lieutenant's Leadership value for all Morale and Pinning tests.

Squad: The squad consists of 1 Sergeant and 9 Imperial Guardsmen.

Weapons: Lasguns.  The Sergeant may exchange his lasgun for a laspistol and close combat weapon at no extra cost.

Options: The entire squad may exchange their lasgun for a laspistol and close combat weapon at no extra cost.  If one Guardsmen exchanges his equipment, all Guardsmen in the squad must do so.

Up to one model may be armed with: flamer at +3 points; plasma gun at +8 points; meltagun at +8 points or a grenade launcher at +8 points.

Transport: CHIMERA

The Chimera is the Imperial Guard's most common armoured troop carrier and infantry support vehicle.  It can carry a full squad and two further passengers plus its own crew.  In fast moving battles the Chimera can transport its infantry squad many miles.

Type: Tank. Crew: Imperial Guard.

Weapons: The Chimera must have one of the following turret weapons: multi-laser at +10 pts; heavy flamer at +10 pts; heavy bolter at +10 pts.  It may also have a heavy bolter or heavy flamer mounted in its hull at +5 pts.

Options: A Chimera may be given upgrades from the Vehicle Upgrades in the Armoury.

Transport Vehicle: A Chimera can carry up to twelve models (count Ogryn or models in Terminator armour as two models).   It is always taken as a transport upgrade for another unit and may only transport the unit it was bought for.  Independent characters that join a unit with a Chimera may also travel in it.
