The Ulf Villtur are also know as the Wolf Brothers, and are the only known successor chapter to the Space Wolves. Their home planet, Midgard, is a severe and cruel world similar to Fenris. The people of the world have a culture very much like the Norse of Ancient Terra.
The Planet Midgard circles a dim orange star in the Segmentum Obscurus, beyond the Eye of Terror, and has been cut off many times from the Imperium by the terrible Warp Storms that eminate from the Eye of Terror. Midgard has been the target of many Chaos raids and has been stuck in the past by the Tyranid Hive Fleet Kraken. The Dire Wolves of Midgard are as fierce and dangerous as any Fenrisian Wolf. The people live an archaic and barbaric life with no knowledge of modern technology. The law of the axe and sword prevails. It is a warrior society where only the strong survives.
The Ulf Villtur are looked upon as deities and supernatural beings by the primitives
of Midgard. When the Wolf Priests go forth to test the young warriors for candidates
to become Space Marines, they disguise all technology and shroud it in mysticism.
The people may never know what is beyond their planet. They are to be allowed to
develop or not develop higher technology as their evolution dictates, without interference
from outside sources. It is the duty of all Ulf Villtur to protect Midgard and to
keep its population untainted. The Ulf Villtur follow the same basic rituals, organization, and fighting style as the Space Wolves, but there have been changes to this over the millenia due to the isolation of Midgard on the very fringe of Imperium space. They have developed some fighting techniques and troop types that are unique to their chapter and are influenced by the environment in which the Ulf Villtur live and fight. |
