Thought for the Day

'The Unknown is only that which is not yet illuminated'

Log Entry {9790997.M41}

Basic scans of the sector give the following indications.  There are six life bearing systems, with every indication of a fairly high level of technology.  We have observed several scout-sized warships of an older Imperial style in the sector.  We have also observed a rather large fleet of several warships orbitting the third planet of the fourth star.  We have met with no hostilities at this time.  We have yet to make contact with any beings, we are using asteroids and moons to hide our presence and observing.  The systems are definitely heavily populated.  Now we must determine if that population is hostile.

Log Entry {9797997.M41}

After careful examination of the sector over the past several days, it has been determined that the population of the sector are lost Imperium colonies, and they are patrolled by a Space Marine chapter or chapters.  Whether these are loyal or renegade is yet to be determined.  They have a number of outposts throughout the sector, and they seem to be well armed if somewhat archaicly armed.  We observed a combat between a small Marine force from what appears to be a chapter named the Iron Claws, and a small Ork raiding force.  The Marines were using early versions of plasma weapons, and they seem to use no laser technology.  The latest version of armour we observed was Mk VI Astartes Power Armour.

Log Entry {9797997.M41}

We have found their standard bearers all carry banners of the Imperium, and the Space Marines wear Imperium markings and badges.  It has been decided to approach
these Space Marines and make contact on behalf of the Emperor and the Imperium of Mankind.  If these Marines

are loyal, they will be a needed asset added to the strength of the Imperium, and six new systems will be added to the Imperium.

Contact has been established with the Master of the Iron Claws Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes.  All hail the Emperor and his Benevolence in returning our lost Warriors to us!
The Chapter Master, or as he prefers to be called, the Legatus, is Legatus Marius Seniorus.  He is an imposing man with both a martial carriage and penetrating intellegent eyes.  He seems to be a wise leader and he is much admired by the Marines under his command and the people who live under his protection.  We have found both he and the Marines to be loyal to the Emperor and the population to be content and well treated.  They have endured centuries of isolation while maintaining their loyalty and honour.
We have been taken on a quick tour of some of the facilities and fortifications, including the Marines' main Fortress Monastery.  There were many areas that we were not allowed to see, as they are secretive about the workings of their Chapter, as are all of the Space Marine Chapters.  But from what we have seen, they are well organized and self-sufficient.  There are many differences from other Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes, but the main thing is, they are loyal and without taint of Chaos.  Their Chaplains are diligent in their duties and they have a whole section of their Clergy that are dedicated to the seeking out and destroying the taint of Chaos wherever they may find it.  Their Interrogator Chaplains are called the White Brotherhood.

Your obedient servant,
Lieutenant Ryder
