Eldar Standard Bearer40K3 conversion by Tom and Erik Setzer; Based on 40K2 background and rules by Mike Freeman When I first read the rulebook, I was very intrigued with the idea of a standard bearer, a heroic individual who carried around a massive banner, magnificently painted, holding it high so that it became a focal point of morale for the troops. When I decided to be Eldar, I was disappointed that they could not take a standard bearer. Not that they really need it with there above average intelligence and leadership, but i did like the idea of converting and painting a massive and threatening standard to rally my troops around. I never thought about it until now, thinking of the Chaos Icons in the Chaos Codex. With that I came up with the following rules.
An Eldar Standard Bearer may be bought to accompany the Farseer. He must always remain within 2" of the Farseer.
Weapons: Shuriken pistol and close combat weapon
Standards The Standard of the Banshee................50 points This standard is said to have emitted the eerie wail of the Banshee form the Warp, it's constant crying disturbing pykers around it as they are haunted by the shreeking. Any psykers within 12" of the Standard add +2 to the roll to activate thier powers. Standard of the Scorpion................50 points The Standard of the Scorpion shows a massive scorpion, which relies on stealth to sneak up and attack his victim. It weaves a dark rune around the surrounding Eldar, making them hard to see. All Eldar models within 6" of the Standard Bearer get a 5+ cover save. The Standard of the Dragon................50 points. This Standard show a massive sinous dragon, with glowing eyes and huge teeth. It is said to hold the spirit of the Dragon, which emerges at a time of need. Once a game, the Standard Bearer may choose to release the spirit of the Dragon, who emerges with a roar and terrorizes foes. The Dragon lasts for one turn, and will engage the nearest enemy model in hand-to -hand combat.
Note that the Dragon is not a pysichal form, adn cannot be harmed in any way, although he only lasts one turn. The Dragon is immune to pychology and causes fear. The Standard of Avengement................50 points This standard reminds the Eldar around it of their mission to defend their people. Any Eldar within 8" of the Standard are immune to pychology. The Standard of the Hawk................50 points This banner depicts a mighty hawk, the Eldar symbol of vengeance. This makes all Eldar around it remember what their enemies have done, causing them to seek bloody retribution. Any Eldar within 8" of the standard now hates the enemy and will always strike on a 3+ in hand to hand. Note that if an Eldar charges the enemy and gets out of range of the standard, they will still get the 3+ to hit, as long as they were within 12" of the Standard at the beginning of the turn. The Standard of the Reaper................50 points This standard bears the rune dralith, which stands for death and destruction. It reminds the Eldar that they msut kill the enemy at all costs. It is adorned in blood, which some say make the Eldar to degenerate into the Eldar of old, desperately seeking combat and death. Any models within 8" of the standard gain +1 Attack in hand to hand. Note that if an Eldar charges the enemy and gets out of range of the standard, they will still get the +1 Attack, as long as they were within 12" of the Standard at the beginning of the turn. The Standard of the Spider................75 points This Standard depicts a spider, surrounded by many entrancing crystals. It tends to mesmerize the foolhardy and weak of mind. Any enemy models who come within 8" of the standard must take a Leadership test. If they fail, they may not do anything that turn, as the crystals have rendered the model spellbound. The Standard of the Avatar................50 points This Standard shows the mighty war god Khaela Mensha Khaine. It shows a raging Avatar pummeling some puny creature, and it is adorned in with the skulls of the Avatar's former victims. This makes the weak-hearted quail in terror, as it is said that the Avatar can be heard roaring from the Standard, and any who look at it fear that he is coming for them! This Standard causes fear to all enemy models, except the ones who are immune to pychology. Once per game, the Eldar player may chose to let loose the Avatar's horrifying roars. This causes any enemy unit within 6" of the standard to suffer a -1 to their Ld. |
