Options: A Legion Officer may be given any equipment allowed by the Alpha Legion armoury.

SPECIAL RULES

Independent Character: Unless accompanied by his bodyguard (see below) the Legion Officer is an independent character and follows all of the rules for characters in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook.

Retinue: The Legion Officer may be accompanied by a retinue as detailed below. If the Legion Officer has a retinue then he and the retinue are treated as a single unit during the battle. Note that the bodyguard does not count as a separate HQ choice (it does not use up one of the HQ ‘slots’).

Mark of Chaos: All Legion Officers are Chaos Undivided, and may have no other Mark.

LEGION OFFICER'S RETINUE

Squad: The squad consists of between 5 and 10 Veteran Chaos Space Marines.

Weapons: Bolter or bolt pistol & close combat weapon.

Options: Up to two models may be armed with one of the following weapons each: missile launcher at +20 pts; autocannon at +20 pts; heavy bolter at +10 pts; lascannon at +35 pts; flamer at +3 pts; plasma gun at +6 pts; meltaun at +10 pts; plasma pistol at +5 pts. The entire squad may be equipped with frag grenades at +1 pt per model and krak grenades at +2 pts per model, and smoke/blind grenades at +2 pts per model.

Any of the Chaos Space Marine Veterans in the quad may be upgraded to Aspiring Champions at an additional cost of +15 pts. The Aspiring Champion may be given any equipment allowed from the Alpha Legion Armoury.

Rhino: The entire squad may be mounted in a Rhino armoured carrier at an additional cost of +50 pts.

SPECIAL RULES

Infiltrators: Occasionally, Veterans are able to work their way into a forward position during a battle. To represent this they may set up using the Infiltrators rules, but only if the mission allows for it to be used and not if they are mounted in a Rhino, even when they form part of a Legion Officer's Retinue. If Infiltators are not allowed then they must set up normally.

Icon Bearer: One Aspiring Champion in the retinue can become an Icon Bearer and carry the icon of Chaos Undivided.

Tech Magus: One Aspiring Champion in the retinue can become a Tech Magus and be given Tech Marine wargear from the Codex: Space Marines wargear list.

Apothecary: One Aspiring Champion in the retinue can become an Apothecary and be given Apothecary wargear from the Codex: Space Marines wargear list.

Independent Character: A Librarian is an independent character and follows all of the Independent Character special rules in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook.

Psychic Powers: Librarians can use psychic powers. The powers that they may choose are included in the Armoury section of this list and descriptions of how they work can be found in the Wargear section.
